In 2013, an employee of the Museum of Russian Culture in San Francisco (now its Vice-President) discovered in the museum's archive the "Protocol of the Maritime Assembly in Paris dated December 28, 1964." It documented that M.S. Raslovlev, an officer and a George Cross knight, who emigrated in the early 1920s, was "preparing a second edition (the first was published in 1935) in French of his very successful complete poetic translation of Ershov's fairy tale 'The Little Humpbacked Horse'." I began searching for that first edition from 1935, as at that time it was unknown if the plans for a second edition were realized.

The search was complicated because the French translation of the title was unknown, only the translator's last name. However, images of both the first and second editions were found. A mystery remained - who was Irene Fanshaw, the illustrator of the book.

Thanks to the internet, it was possible to find and contact Raslovlev's descendants. It turned out that the artist was the translator's niece. And her mother, Xenia - sister of Mikhail Raslovlev - co-authored the translation of "The Little Humpbacked Horse" into English with her brother!

The English translation of the fairy tale was published in London in 1978. The cover and illustrations of this edition are identical to the French one.

В 2013 году сотрудник Музея Русской Культуры в Сан Франциско (а ныне его Вице-Президент) обнаружил в архиве музея "Протокол Морского Собрания в Париже от 28 декабря 1964 года". В нем записано, что М.С. Расловлев, офицер, Георгиевский кавалер, находящийся в эмиграции с начала 1920-х годов, "готовит второе издание (первое вышло в 1935 году) на французском языке своего очень удачного полного перевода в стихах ершовской сказки "Конек-Горбунок". Я начала поиски того, первого издания, 1935 года, т.к. на тот момент не было известно, удалось ли осуществить планы по второму изданию.

 Поиски были осложнены тем, что французский перевод названия был неизвестен, только фамилия автора перевода, однако изображения и первого и второго изданий были найдены. Оставалась загадкой - кто такая Ирен Фэншоу - иллюстратор книги.

Благодаря Интернету удалось найти и связаться с потомками Расловлева. Оказалось, что художница - родная племянница автора. А её мама, Ксения - сестра Михаила Расловлева - стала соавтором брата при переводе "Конька-Горбунка" на английский язык!

Английский перевод сказки вышел в Лондоне в 1978 году. Обложка и иллюстрации этого издания идентичны французскому.
