Two more editions of our "The Humpbacked Horse" in Spanish have been identified to date.

The first one was published by "Everest" in the series "Lily. The Tower and the Flower" - "El caballito Jorobado". It is noted that the book is intended for children aged 8-9. It is a very brief retelling of the tale by Pyotr Yershov, but the edition includes a portrait of the author of the original tale.

The title translates simply as "The Humpbacked Horse". The translation was done by Miguel Presa Pereira. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information about this translator.

The illustrations for the translation were done by the remarkable Russian artist and children's book illustrator, Gennady Spirin, whom we are already familiar with from the French miniature edition. Professional children's book illustrators in Russia called him "the best of the best"! A few words about this remarkable artist... Gennady Konstantinovich Spirin was born on December 25, 1948. He is a graduate of the Surikov Art School in Moscow and the Moscow Stroganov Institute of Arts. He is known for his unique style of watercolor illustration. He has illustrated works by classic authors such as William Shakespeare, Anton Chekhov, Leo Tolstoy, Pyotr Yershov, as well as children's books by contemporary celebrities.

Gennady Spirin's oil paintings are displayed in state and private galleries around the world.

The New York Times wrote about him and his work. His creation of "The Nutcracker" was chosen by Saks Fifth Avenue as the centerpiece of the store's famous Christmas display in 1997 and 1998.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992, Spirin immigrated to the USA with his wife and sons.

He currently lives and works in Princeton, New Jersey.

Significantly, today, December 25th, is his birthday, which I decided to tell you about this artist, and discovered.

It is not yet established whether there is an edition of "The Humpbacked Horse" with illustrations by Gennady Spirin in English, but it would be wonderful if this edition appeared for the 190th anniversary of the tale in the USA! God willing!

The second edition I discovered is quite mysterious. The author's name is not specified. "El caballito Jorobado" was published in the "Children's Library" series, by Gustavo Drasal Publishing House in Buenos Aires (Argentina), in 1965.

The illustrations were done in graphic workshops in Japan (Kodansha-Tokyo). The book was also printed there. Under each illustration is the inscription: "T. Tani, 1957", indicating that the illustrations were created long before the book's publication, and likely were previously published in a Japanese edition. In Japan, our "The Humpbacked Horse" was incredibly popular at the time, as more than 50 editions of it are known in Japanese. It seems that the animated film "The Humpbacked Horse" by Ivan Ivanov-Vano in Japanese also appeared in those years. But this requires further study.

А вот иллюстрации к переводу выполнил замечательный российский художник и иллюстратор детских книг, Геннадий Спирин, с которыми мы уже знакомы по французскому миниатюрному изданию. Профессиональные иллюстраторы детских книг в России назвали его "лучшим из лучших"! Несколько слов об этом замечательном художнике...Геннадий Константинович Спирин - родился 25 декабря 1948 года. Выпускник Суриковского художественного училища в Москве и Московского института искусств Строганова. Известен своим уникальным стилем акварельной иллюстрации. Иллюстрировал работы классических авторов, таких как Уильям Шекспир, Антон Чехов, Лев Толстой , Петр Ершов, а также детские книги современных знаменитостей.

Картины маслом, выполненные Геннадием Спириным, висят в государственных и частных галереях по всему миру.

О нём и его творчестве творчестве писали в газете Нью-Йорк Таймс. Изображение "Щелкунчика", со-данное им, было выбрано Саксом Пятой авеню как центральное в знаменитой рождественской экспозиции магазина в 1997 и 1998 годах.

После распада Советского Союза в 1992 году Спирин вместе со своей женой и сыновьями иммигрировал в США.

В настоящее время живет и работает в Принстоне, в штате Нью-Джерси.

Знаменательно, что именно сегодня я решила рассказать вам об этом художнике, и обнаружила что сегодня, 25 декабря, его День рождения!

Не установлено пока, существует ли издание "Конька-Гррбунка" рисунками Геннадия Спирина на Английском языке, но было бы замечательно, если бы это издание появилось к 190-летнемумюбилею сказки в США! Дай Бог!

Второе , выявленное мною, весьма загадочно. Имя автора не указано. "El caballito Jorobado" вышло в сети "Детская библиотека",

в издательстве Густаво Драсал (Gustavo Drasal) в Buenos Aires (Argentina), в 1965 году.

Иллюстрации выполнены в графических мастерских Японии ( Kodansha-Tokyo). Там же книга и отпечатана. Под каждой иллюстрацией подпись: "T. Tani, 1957", что говорит, что иллюстрации были созданы задолго до издания книги, и, вероятно, ранее были опубликованы в японском издании. А в Японии наш "Конёк-Горьунок" в те годы был невероятно популярен, так как известно более 50 изданий его на японском. Похоже, что и мультфильм Иванова-Вано "Конёк-Горбунок" на японском появился в те же годы. Но это требует дополнительного изучения.
