P.P. Ershov's great-granddaughter turns 92 today! Правнучке П.П. Ершова сегодня 92!

In the land of snow and gusting wind,

Far from the southern dust's whirl and spin,

Where the Bureya's waters flow and sway,

Little Zeya was born one winter's day.

These lines were dedicated to Zeya Ivanovna Ranskaya-Kuzmenko in her early youth by one of her admirers. Indeed, "little" Zeya was named after the river flowing through Khabarovsk, the city where she was born.

She was born on January 6, 1932, during the well-known Siberian Christmas frosts!

Zeya's mother, Elena Alexandrovna Ranskaya (née Ershova), was the granddaughter of P.P. Ershov, the author of the fairy tale "The Little Humpbacked Horse."

He wrote this tale while he was a student at the Faculty of Philosophy and Law at Saint Petersburg University. However, he soon left Petersburg and spent his life working in the field of education in Tobolsk.

P.P. Ershov's sons continued the family teaching dynasty. His younger son, Alexander, worked as a teacher in a public school in the Cossack village of Sgibnevo in the Amur region.

His daughter, Elena - Zeya's mother - also became a teacher, teaching in schools in the Amur region and the city of Irkutsk.

Zeya continued the family dynasty. After graduating from the history department of IGPI, she taught history in an evening school, a boarding school for auxiliary education, and a school for children with speech impairments. Since 2006, she has been living in California with her daughter and grandson.

Today she turns 92! Wishing her many more years of life!

Эти стихи посвятил Зее Ивановне Ранской-Кузьменко в ранней юности один из её поклонников. Да, "крошку" Зею назвали именем реки, протекающей в городе Хабаровске, где она родилась.

Родилась она 6 января 1932 года, в хорошие известные сибирякам рождественские морозы!

Мама Зеи, Елена Александровна Ранская (урождёная Ершова), внучка автора сказки "Конёк-Гррбунок" П.П. Ершова.

Сказку эту он написал будучи студентом философско-юридического факультета Санкт-Петербургского университета. Но вскоре он покинул Петербург и всю жизнь трудился на ниве просвещения в Тобольске.

Учительскую династию продолжили сыновья Петра Павловича Ершова. Младший сын, Александр, служил учителем в народной школе казацкой станицы Сгибнево Амурской области.

Его дочь - Елена- мама Зеи - тоже стала учительницей, преподавала в школах Амурской области и г. Иркутска.

Зея продолжила семейную династию. Окончив исторический факультет ИГПИ, преподавала историю в вечерней школе, во вспомогательной школе-интернате, в школе доя детей с дефектами речи. С 2006 года она живет в Калифорнии, с дочерью и внуком.

Сегодня ей 92! Долгих лет жизни!
